VO The fourth annual Vientiane Career and Education Fair kicks off providing students with job opportunities
INTRO: The fourth annual Vientiane Career and Education Fair was held at Don Chan Palace hotel last Friday and Saturday and provided students with job opportunities with more than 40 companies and non-government organisations (NGOs).
STORY: The two-day event not only provides students with job opportunities and information about certain companies and NGOs, it also provides them with knowledge and inspiration on how they can contribute in the lead-up to the Asean Economic Community (AEC) in 2015.”
According to the organizer, this was the fourth time they had held a career and education fair but it was completely different from previous events as they had a panel discussion with guest speakers. Students could also come to gain knowledge and ensure they would be ready for the AEC in 2015.
Under the theme, ‘How should Lao youth prepare for AEC in 2015?’, the fair attracted a large number of students and members of the public who came to listen to the panel discussion, which included many successful businesspeople, entrepreneurs and senior foreign diplomats.
Young businesspeople from 10 different countries would have to travel around the region and Laos expects to face several challenging issues when it comes to the competitive market, however, the youths’ contribution is essential to moving Laos onto the regional stage.
This year’s career and education fair was arranged by student volunteers at the AIESEC Laos Office and the Lao-American College. It is hoped that the presence of different companies, businesses and NGOs would offer students a wider range of knowledge and skills on the AEC integration.
